Though Cashore gives Graceling herself and Fire and Bitterblue redemptive and at least somewhat happy endings, I’m not left feeling uplifted. Anything, and he used this power to try to rebuild his fantasy world, without, of course, counting the cost to anyone.

When the Council hears that the King of Liend’s father has been kidnapped Katsa investigates Kristin Cashore’s ‘Graceling’ is a great start by a developing writer and I definitely look forward to seeing this writer grow with future lirbo as she shows tremendous potential. Cashore has a talent for writing really strong female leads that have great arcs of character development descagrar the story, being tested in many ways but always emerging triumphant and stronger in the end.

Katsa is a wonderful main character. And then in Bitterblue, all subtlety goes completely out the window and I don’t see how you could read it without being traumatized. She has a whopping case of imposter syndrome, which is understandable. That pain was pleasure. Everything about Katsa is intense.
I enjoyed this fantasy book despite not particularly connecting with the main character. In the end, she decides that education and knowledge preservation are important, and then she founds the first royal institute of peace and reconciliation. And who was the extraordinary Graced fighter who challenged her fighting skills, for the first time, as she and the Council rushed the old man to saftey?
